If anyone is disabled, one needs the support to lead a comfortable life. Without support, it becomes highly daunting for them to manage things. Autism Spectrum Disorder is also a mental condition in which the person does not behave properly, is not able to have social interactions, and does not have the ability that helps one to engage with the environment. Therefore, they need the support to sustain their lives. People suffering from such conditions from the very beginning show response-related difficulties. NDIS provides support coordinators who look after these people properly and help them perform various activities so that they can also feel like ordinary people.
Levels of Autism:
Level 1: Those who are diagnosed with Level 1 Autism face problems in the following aspects
- Issues in starting any interaction with someone.
- If there is social interaction, then their reactions are ineffective.
- Do not have any interest in social situations.
- If they get involved with someone in having a conversation, then they face difficulty in communicating properly and clearly.
- Faces problems in forging friendships with others.

Level 2 : When one needs substantial support: In Level 2, one faces difficulties in the following aspects
- Although resources are provided to them, they still encounter problems in social interactions.
- Never initiate a social interaction
- During the conversation, they do not respond to others’ talk.
- They are typically rigid in their actions and behaviour.
- Not being able to pay attention and also facing difficulty in shifting attention.
Level 3 : when a person requires a great amount of support: In this case, one faces difficulty in the following aspects
- They use a few words to answer the questions.
- Not able to adjust to the change.
- Minimum communication or just no communication.
- Under this stage, the behaviour of the person is extremely weird as one does not like to be social at all.
If you have a mental disability, then you fulfil the NDIS eligibility; however, if you have any chronic disease in life, then NDIS will not provide the support or funds for that as it is not a disability.
Different techniques that can used to manage ASD at an early stage:
- Doing therapies that are proven to be helpful in making the person learn the skills that help to overcome the challenges of life.
- Speech, language, and occupational therapies are used to enhance the communication, social, and language abilities of the person.
- If a person has any mental health condition, like if one is suffering from depression, anxiety, aggression and impatience, then proper medication should be provided to the person to overcome this issue.
- Bring changes in diet to keep a person fit as fiddle and healthy.
- Psychotherapy should be done so that the strength of the body can be improved.
The carers of the disabled also need some rest to get relief, as it is not an easy task to handle a disabled person. One needs to look after a plethora of things. They help them perform their daily tasks; hence, they need to work a lot. Therefore, the NDIS’s short-term accommodation facility is the best for these individuals as they get an opportunity to rest and promote their well-being. Under this, a person works at the place of carer on a temporary basis so that the carer gets a break from all the duties of handling a disabled person for some time. In fact, the disabled person also gets a new environment.
Country Community Care is basically working to make the lives of disabled people normal and to provide them with the best possible support. If anyone in your family has Autism, then provide them with support from the beginning only so that the condition does not get worse, and for doing so, we are here.
